Why is there a National Road Safety Week?
Every year, more than 1,200 people are killed and 44,000 seriously injured on Australian roads. National Road Safety Week is a time for us to remember those people who have experienced trauma on our roads. For more information about National Road Safety Week, visit the SARAH Group website.
Take a pledge to drive so others survive
We ask communities to come together and make their pledge to ensure the roads are safe for everyone — To Drive So Others Survive #DriveSOS.
Light up for National Road Safety Week
Each year for National Road Safety Week, the Department of Transport and Main Roads partners with Queensland communities and organisations to light up our state yellow. If you’re travelling around the country, you may even see other landmarks lit yellow.
Lighting landmarks yellow aims to shine a light on road safety and remember those who have lost their lives and been seriously injured in road trauma on our roads.
If you see a landmark lit yellow in your city or town, please take a photo, post it to social media and tag us @StreetSmartsQLD #NRSW2024
